When JAY-Z gives an interview, the world stops and listens.

A rare sight, the GRAMMY-winning music mogul took to ‘CBS Mornings’ recently to celebrate the new ‘Book of HOV’ exhibit at the Brooklyn Library that toasts to his history-making, three-decade career.

When not reflecting on his rags-to-riches journey and his albums that helped reshaped Hip-Hop, the 53-year-old emcee opened up about his wife Beyonce‘s record-breaking ‘Renaissance Tour,’ proud moments as a father to their daughter Blue Ivy, and so much more.

JAY-Z spent most of 2023 supporting Bey on the global trek designed to support her seventh chart-topping solo album, ‘Renaissance.’

“My wife, I know how hard she works. For me it’s her best tour. And it’s hard to compare them because they all have different things of genius, but this one to me felt like the most complete,” he said to ‘Mornings’ editor-at-large Gayle King.

Part of what made the experience “complete” was the addition of his daughter, Blue Ivy, who performed alongside her mother on the jaunt on stages around the world.

“What makes me super proud—I still get goosebumps seeing her walk on stage—is because Blue’s been born into…a life that she didn’t ask for—under scrutiny, public eye, everyone having an opinion of, even a little girl, how she keeps her hair,” JAY relayed. “So for her to be on that stage and reclaim her power…you can’t write a better script.”

When not bragging about Blue’s performance skills, the proud dad shared the story about how she got her unique name.

“Her name was meant to be Brooklyn,” he started. “When we got the sonogram, we were calling her Blueberry because of how cute and tiny the picture looked. It was a nickname for nine months…it was just natural.”
